Xian Lim Eats the Food Brought by Jolo Revilla for Kim Chiu

Cherrie Pie Picache Excited to be Back on Primetime

Award-winning actress Cherry Pie Picache is thrilled to be back on primetime television with her upcoming series, "My Binondo Girl."

"Yes, thank you. I really miss it. I miss appearing on primetime," she told abs-cbnNEWS.com during a press conference for the romantic comedy series top billed by young actress Kim Chiu.

Picache's last primetime show is ABS-CBN's defunct television series "Noah" with hunk actor Piolo Pascual.

"Nagpapasalamat ako. Namahinga din ako so ang tagal. My last was 'Noah' noong January so I'm excited to come back. August na so that's about 6 months of resting, excited tapos kontrabida pa ang role ko, so maganda," she said.

In "My Binondo Girl," Picache will play the character of Margaret dela Vega.

Asked if she is not getting tired of doing antagonist roles, Picache replied, "Kontrabida na yata ako all the way.

Aside from "My Binondo Girl," Picache is also busy promoting her indie movie, "Isda."

Revilla made the statement after rumors circulated that he was wooing Chiu.

The young actor said that he and Chiu are just good friends.

Revilla said that for now, he is only committed to his work.

"Walang [babae sa puso ko]. Pahinga muna tayo diyan at trabaho," he said.

Gerald Anderson Loses 15 Pounds for Budoy

Actor Gerald Anderson said he lost 15 pounds for his role in ABS-CBN's newest series, "Budoy."

In an interview during a press conference for his product endorsement, Dermablend soap, Anderson said he had to exercise and follow a strict diet to get back in shape.

"Siyempre kailangan po bagong itsura, of course," he told abs-cbnNEWS.com.

"Fifteen pounds, actually, 185 pounds to 170 pounds. Sa diet ito, exercise, cardio," he added.

The actor admitted that he needed to slim down not only because he has a new project but also because he is already overweight.

"Oh yes, overweight [na ako]. Actually sabay kami ni Sam (Milby), galing kaming States, kain kami nang kain doon. When I got back, doon nag-start na akong mag-research, mag-diet at mag-exercise. So I'm happy sa weight ko ngayon, mas magaan, mas fit," he said.

Anderson then described Budoy, his character in the new television series.

"Si Budoy ay isang 20- to 22-year-old man [pero] ang isip niya is 10 years old.

He added that the new show, which will premiere on ABS-CBN before the year-end, gave him a better understanding of people with disabilities.

Justin Gonzales Got Break in Maria la del Barrio

Newcomer Justin Gonzales shared that he was so surprised when he learned that he had a role in the teleserye Maria La Del Barrio as the childhood friend and secret admirer of lead star Erich Gonzales. In an interview with ABS-CBN.com, the 19 year-old said he hopes more people will take notice of him in this teleserye. “Sobrang masaya and excited pero at the same time kinakabahan kasi malaking role. I just hope other bigger opportunities will come. Lagi naman akong nagdadasal for more blessings. I trust naman ABS-CBN that they know what’s best for me. Every time naman na binibigyan ako ng work I always give my best.”

He added that to be paired with Erich is such a big honor and he currently enjoys spending time with the actress on the set. But here in Maria La Del Barrio since laging magkasama ‘yung mga characters namin mas madalas ko siyang makausap sa set. She’s fun to be with.”

Justin had done a few guest appearances in various ABS-CBN programs like in a couple episodes of Maalaala Mo Kaya. He was discovered by Star Magic when he used to be a part of an all-male dance group that used to serve as back up for Joross Gamboa and Gerald Anderson. “I was a backup dancer of Joross, magkasama kami ni Gerald noon. Before pa nun mag-PBB si Gerald. Then after mag-PBB ni Gerald, ‘yung grupo nag-backup naman for him. Dun ako na-discover ng manager ko ngayon and he recommended me sa Star Magic.”

As he aspires to someday follow in the footsteps of Gerald and other Kapamilya hot leading men, Justin doesn’t want people to think that he is intentionally emulating his good friend. “Gerald is Gerald na. I want to achieve rin kung ano ‘yung na achieve niya pero gusto ko rin magkaroon ng sarili kong name.”

Justin explained that he feels he is at the right age to do kissing scenes should it be required in Maria La Del Barrio. But if he has to take his shirt of for a scene, he said he needs time to work out. “Open naman ako for kissing scenes. I need to start working out muna.”

Despite the hardship, Chiu said there's no reason to worry because the show's production was there to help.

In the end, Chiu hopes that viewers would see her effort for the show and would watch it from beginning till end.

"Well sana, tina-try ko naman ang full effort ko para mapaganda ang show na ito. Hanggang kaya ko gagawin ko," she said.

Meamwhile, Chiu was also game in addressing question if she would be willing to do a kissing scene with a girl.

Asked which girl she prefers to kiss, she said: "Ayaw ko ng maging choosy. Kahit sino na lang."

Jason Abalos Doesn't Mind Playing Second Lead

Jason Abalos said that he doesn’t mind playing second lead in Reputasyon since he has had his fair share of exposure on other Kapamilya shows.

While he would certainly welcome bigger projects coming his way, Jason explained that longevity in showbiz is what he’s really aiming for. In fact, the talented actor has never been accused of being particular about his roles from the very start. At the same time, yung craft mo napag-aaralan mo ng mabuti.

Jason, who recently starred in Cinemalaya’s Rakenrol, expressed how happy he is now that more Filipinos have come to appreciate such indie films.

The much-talked about afternoon series about family and love garnered a 12% audience share, according to the August 5 data released by Kantar Media-TNS.

Reyes said the show also helped her prove that she is a real actress.

But Rayver, known for his dancing skills, wants to take this connection a notch higher -- he aspires to be known as a drama actor, just like Box Office King John Lloyd.

Jake Roxas on Maria la del Barrio

Jake Roxas started out in showbiz during the late ‘90s doing teenybopper roles. He was said to be on his way to leading man status just like Richard Gomez and Aga Muhlach, but his career took a sudden setback and he faded away from the limelight.

After staging a comeback with Imortal, he’s now part of the upcoming teleserye Maria La Del Barrio top-billed by Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee. During the press conference of the drama series, Jake said he never regretted his decision to leave showbiz to become a family man. “Wala namang regret. Jake now has three kids aged fifteen, ten, and nine years old.

He explained that he wanted his kids to grow up with him always present instead of him being caught up in showbiz commitments.

But he eventually missed acting, and when he decided to come back, he was fortunate enough to get help from Direk Chito Roño who got him two teleseryes. “Nung ready na ako mag-showbiz uli, I was lucky kasi nakita ako ni Direk Chito at inalok niya ako ng role sa Magkano ang Iyong Dangal?Sumunod dun ‘yung Imortal, at ngayon kasama ako sa Maria La Del Barrio. Mas happy akong magtrabaho ngayon kasi tunay acting ang gusto kong ipakita.”

Jake was asked to clear up the rumor that the reason he went missing from the limelight for a while was because of his attitude problem.

Ejay Falcon Closer Now to Empress

After the primetime series Guns and Roses started last June, Ejay Falcon admitted that he and onscreen partner Empress have been spending more and more time together mainly because of their long taping days on the set. The 21-year-old actor said that even before they started doing the show, he and Empress were already friends.

Ejay said that even if he develops feelings for Empress, he prefers to keep things simple for now. “Masaya kasi kami na magkaibigan. Baka kasi magkaroon ng ilangan. Pero siyempre sa ngayon mahirap sagutin yan. Yung driver niya mama niya. Tapos kasama rin yung tatay niya. Patagalin muna natin yung pagiging magkaibigan namin,” he said.

Although it was Empress who admitted to Push.com.ph that her parents think Ejay is a nice guy, the former PBB Teen said he does not want to abuse their trust and just makes sure he treats Empress well on the set.

But Ejay admitted that it’s not hard to fall for someone like Empress. Madalas kaming nag-uusap. So masasabi ko na mas close kami ngayon. Napakabait niya, napaka-masunurin sa mga magulang. Yun lang ang masasabi ko. Hindi yan pasaway. Kasi pag lumalabas kami as a group, maaga yan umuuwi kasi bawal sa mga magulang,” he explained.

In Guns and Roses, Ejay plays the role of Robin Padilla’s younger brother Onat, a policeman who torments his older brother Abel as punishment for abandoning their family. Ejay said that he really studied his character well because he knew he would be doing a lot of scenes opposite his idol, Robin Padilla. May ganun yun eh.

Ejay is also thankful about all the positive feedback he has been getting regarding his acting improvement as shown on Guns and Roses. “Happy ako. Siyempre pinagpapasalamat ko sa lahat ng nakakapansin. Di ba dati sa Katorse madaming nakakapansin na hindi ako marunong, hindi pa ako hinog pero ngayon hinog na daw umarte kaya masaya ako,” he said.

Enchong Dee Aims to Gain People's Respect

Sa The Buzz ay very general si Enchong Dee sa kanyang sagot nang tanungin siya ng host ng show na si Charlene Gonzalez hinggil sa taong nagpapasaya sa kanya ngayon. “Of course my family and some other people,” pa-safe na tugon ng aktor na gaganap bilang si Luis Fernando sa Filipino adaptation ng Mexicanovela hit, Maria la del Barrio.

“I always tell them you don’t have to admire me, hindi mo naman ako kailangang magustuhan.

“’Yung mga ganong bagay na you get to show the people hindi porket andito kami sa estadong ito kumbaga extraordinary na kami.”

Sabi ko nga if I’m not doing what I’m doing now, I’m probably a teacher. Gusto ko ang environment ng school. Kelangan ko lang talagang i-stop because of the schedule kasi once you get a low grade, hindi mo na siya pwedeng mabawi.”

Ang sabi ko nga my purpose of (wanting to enter) politics is to help other people.

Luis Manzano Reveals Upcoming Projects

Aside from hosting Pilipinas Got Talent and Entertainment Live, Luis Manzano happily shared with Push.com.ph that he’s slated to do several acting projects within the year. “In the works na yung soap (Muling Buksan Ang Puso). So malapit na magsimula yun.

For the teleserye, Luis said that he’s excited to start working with the other cast members since he’s good friends with all of them. “Si Angelica nakasama ko na sa Rounin. Tapos Dyosa boys yung dalawa pang male stars, sina Sam (Milby) and Zanjoe (Marudo). It’s my first time to work with Gretchen. But I’ve watched her on Magkaribal and I’ve interviewed her a few times sa E-Live, so I feel that we’d get along easily.”

Luis also shared a few details about his upcoming movie with Pokwang, Erich Gonzales, and Enchong Dee under Star Cinema. Basta nothing sexual or romantic, iba yung atake. Tignan na lang natin how it will play out”

When asked about the clamour for Kanto Boys to do a film together, Luis admitted that the project would have to be put on hold for now because of the stars’ busy schedule. “Malabo yung movie kasi may kanya-kanyang pinagkakaabalahan kami ngayon nila Billy, Vhong at John Lloyd. I think Lloydy has something lined up din.

Kaya masaya at excited kasi bagong experience for me," Chiu said in an taped interview in Hong Kong last week, which was aired on "The Buzz" on Sunday.

Everything was working well in Hong Kong, Chiu said, until a stranger attempted to burn her fake mustache while she was looking around some shops.

Some scenes in "My Binondo Girl" require Chiu to be dressed as a man.

Lumapit sa akin, ganito ka-lapit," the actress said, with her hand a few inches away from her face.

"Sinigawan ko siya! Tapos susunugin niya 'yung bigote ko. May ginanung lighter. Sabi ko, 'aaaaaaaa!' Tapos tumakbo ako," she added, laughing.

Jessy Mendiola Happy to be Paired With Gerald Anderson

Gayunpaman, tila ang pagkakaroon ng romantic involvement with the actor is not her priority.

In fact, kinakabahan nga raw siya knowing that Gerald came from a very successful love team. But I guess as individual artists mas maganda kung solo-solo tapos magsasama kami (at) magugustuhan nila kami.”
