Iya Villania Faces Biggest Challenge in I Dare You

With her hands full with hosting duties on Kapamilya shows like Umagang Kay Ganda, I Dare You, and Studio 23’s Us Girls and with being a MYX VJ, Iya Villania said her hosting skills are still constantly being challenged especially with her newest reality show, I Dare You. “It’s really quite an experience. I’ve never had this kind of experience before. It’s really different and something that’s really for the books. Hindi ko makakalimutan. Each and every taping day it’s always a new setting, there’s always a different situation. It’s always a different experience. Kung paano ka na lang maaapektuhan or matatamaan, that really depends on the situation, where you are and the people you are surrounded with,” she told Push.com.ph.

The 25-year-old host said that since the new reality series has a different set of celebrity challengers and beneficiaries each week, it adds to the unique quality of the show, which is a first time collaboration between ABS-CBN’s News and Current Affairs division and TV Entertainment Group.

Iya considers it one of the biggest challenges to host a show like I Dare You. “I think ang pinaka-challenging sa akin is ang pagiging host dito. I think that we’re not just hosts kasi, we’re just as good as challengers. Kasi babad din kami. We’re there by the challenger’s side, with each challenge that they do. We also have to have that authority. We need to motivate, we need to keep everyone together. Kailangan pa naming intindihin yung mechanics, the rules. So it’s really quite a workload too. It’s also a mental and physical workout. You really need good rest before and after taping for this show because it really takes so much out of you,” she explained.

A self-confessed morning person, Iya said she really makes it a priority to get enough rest now that she’s juggling three shows at the same time. “Physically, I work out kaya it’s really tiring. That’s why sleep is so important to me. Quality is very important, so if I have to sacrifice something, I’d rather sacrifice that instead of looking like an idiot or tired on cam,” she admitted.

Iya shared that her longtime boyfriend Drew Arellano has also been very supportive of her doing I Dare You, even when there was a possibility of they’re shows going head to head with each other. “He was not surprised I accepted this project. He knows how I can be. He was pretty excited also. Initially nga katapat nga nito yung show niya eh. But he didn’t think anything of it naman, wala naman. Friendly competition pa rin,” she admitted.

Iya said she is also happy with her I Dare You co-hosts Jericho Rosales and Melai Cantiveros. “I’d like to think that we gel. I’d like to think that we complement each other. Echo’s the authoritative one. I’m more of the kabarkada of the challengers than them. Then you have Melai who’s the comedian. Even at the beginning, I think we were able to get along well with each other,” she shared.

Even after over eight years of hosting experience, Iya said she is still looking forward to experiencing new things when it comes to hosting. “I don’t know what else I’d like to do. Anything that’s different siguro. Anything that I’m not familiar with is a challenge and I love challenges,” she admitted.

Jericho Rosales Revisits Roots in I Dare You

As host of ABS-CBN’s first realiserye I Dare You, Jericho Rosales admits he feels honored to be part of such a project, which is a collaboration between the News and Current Affairs division and the TV Entertainment Group. “This is a different kind of reality show. Talagang makabuluhan.

In every episode of I Dare You, Echo along with co-hosts Iya Villania and Melai Cantiveros, guide different celebrity challengers as they enter a different world and experience the ways of life ouside showbiz. They will also help win a reward for them by beating the other participants in the challenge. Echo admits that each taping day they have had so far has been a big challenge for both the hosts and their celebrity guests. “Every taping day naming feeling ko parang first day of school. Every time. Ang calltime naming minsan 4:30am, 5:30am. Physically tiring, emotionally tiring din siya. Mentally stimulating. Ibang klaseng show. Kinakabahan ko,” he admits.

In one of the most memorable shoots they’ve had so far, Echo admits is a two-day shoot in Isla Pulo, a severely depressed area. “Yung first ever taping namin sa Isla Pulo.ibang klase yung nakikita mo yung condition dun. Depressed area kasi yung pinuntahan naming and hindi lang siya depressed area, talagang isa siyang lumulutang na isla ng basura na walang kuryente, na karamihan ng mga bata walang edukasyon, ang kabuhayan nila uling ang. Mabaho, madumi, emosyonal pero marami kaming napulot na aral,” he recalls.

Echo says that one of the striking memories he had from that shoot was that he had to handle human waste. “Nakahawak ako ng dumi ng tao dun. Kasi nagkalat yung dumi ng tao kung saan-saan. Eh wala pa sa isla yun ah, dun pa lang sa pangpang yun so yung kondisyon nila dun mahirap. So isa yun sa hindi ko makakalimutan kasi binigyan ako ng pagkakataon makita yung ganung side ng Pilipinas, yun yung mga nakikita mo pag lumilipad ka sa eroplano,” he explains.

In the first episode of I Dare You which premieres this Monday, July 11 at 5:15pm on ABS-CBN, popular dancer and theater actor Gab Valenciano and multi-awarded actress Alessandra De Rossi will join Jericho as he returns to his roots in Marikina where he used to sell fish and carry loads in a wet market. Viewers will hear Echo’s inspiring rags-to-riches story, as told and demonstrated by the actor himself. “Ito yung episode na hindi ko na kinailangan ng motivation kasi kahit nakapikit ako alam ko na eh, although madami akong napulot dun like test of patience, ganyan. Binalik niya sakin yung pagiging malapit ko dun sa masa, kung saan ako galing. It’s always good to have that kind of experience every once in a while. Masarap yung pakiramdam,” he says.

The 31-year-old actor also shared that even though showbiz has taken him to different places all over the world, he will always have a soft spot for Marikina city. “Marikina will always be Marikina for me.

Jericho Rosales Happy to Stay With ABS-CBN

Jericho Rosales, who is busy wrapping up more episodes of I Dare You along with co-hosts Iya Villania and Melai Cantiveros, is set to leave the country at end of this month to undergo a two-month acting course in the U.S. Before he leaves, he admitted he would like to put to rest any speculation of any network transfer because he has already been able to meet with the ABS-CBN heads. “I asked them if they still needed someone like me and they said they did. Then I asked if they had something for me and they presented me with things I really liked,” he admitted.

Echo also revealed he has another album in the works as well as a proposed movie project. These are the reasons why he is happy with the way his career is going under the Kapamilya network. “Hindi ako nagyayabang. May offer always for me to go somewhere else. Hindi ko masasabi na mas matindi yung offer ng ganyan, ni ganito. Definitely one thing na hindi ko gagawin sa career ko is to slap ABS-CBN in the face,” he added.

Echo admitted that another big factor that greatly weighed in on his decision to stay on with the Kapamilya network was the thought of his fans based abroad. He said no particular person influenced him to reconsider. “No it’s not sino. It’s kung paano nila ipinakita yung halaga ko sa kanila and then yung mga bagay na magagawa ko with them. It’s connected to my purpose in life as an artist. I love TFC. That’s also one consideration and gustong-gusto ko maka-reach out sa mga Filipinos abroad and for me, I hate to sound so serious pero ganun talaga yun eh. Sineseryoso ko talaga yung career ko at yung buhay ko. Yun yung nagbibigay sa akin ng joy,” he shared.

I Dare You, the first collaboration between ABS-CBN’s News and Current Affairs division and TV Entertainment Group, promises to change the views and lives of famous and ordinary Kapamilyas starting July 11, Monday. Celebrity Kapamilya challengers will experience the lives of ordinary people like market vendors, laborers, garbage collectors, people with disabilities, among others.

In the first episode of I Dare You, Jericho will return to his roots in Marikina city where he used to sell fish and be a kargador in a wet market. Joining him for the challenge are popular dancer and theater actor Gab Valenciano and multi-awarded actress Alessandra De Rossi. Echo said that his new role as a host in I Dare You is something he is very excited about because it allows him to reach out and help as well as entertain people. “Matagal na ito. It’s always been my dream na meron ako sa loob ko, I’m really passionate about trying to help. Gusto ko ulit ng makabuluhang drama, so mga ganun,” he said.

I Dare You Premieres This Monday

ABS-CBN’s News and Current Affairs division and TV Entertainment Group have joined forces for the very first time on a new reality show on Philippine TV, “I Dare You,” which is set to change the views and lives of famous and ordinary Kapamilya starting Monday (July 11).

Hosted by award-winning actor Jericho Rosales, versatile actress and host Iya Villania, and comedy princess Melai Cantiveros, “I Dare You” will test the resilience and determination of celebrity Kapamilya challengers, who will carry-out a series of challenges in order to help win a reward for ordinary Filipinos worthy of the title, “Bidang Kapamilya.”

The “Bidang Kapamilya” are everyday Pinoys who bravely face life’s challenges no matter how hard they get. They are the market vendors, the teachers in far-flung areas, the laborers, stuntmen, garbage and junk collectors, farmers, senior citizens, people with disability, among others.

Celebrity Kapamilya challengers will enter their world and experience their lives first hand to understand their way of life and to also to help win a reward for them by beating other celebrities in the challenge.

In the first episode of “I Dare You,” popular dancer and theater actor Gab Valenciano and multi-awarded actress Alessandra De Rossi will join Jericho in his return to his roots in Marikina, where he carried loads and sold fish in a wet market.

This is the first time the public gets to see Gab and Alessandra without the make-up, without their assistants and performing without any “cuts” or “take-twos.” Viewers will also hear Jericho’s inspiring rags-to-riches story, as told and demonstrated by the actor himself.

Jericho clarified that though the celebrities will have to dress down and work, it is not the goal of the program to deglamorize them. He said the stars are actually given the opportunity to show who they really are behind the camera and away from the limelight.

In an interview with Push he explained, “Our program works both ways. The ordinary people get to see the real emotions of the artists, and the artists get to see how an ordinary person lives.”

Iya added that the celebrity Kapamilya challengers aren’t the only ones who will get inspiration from the real-life and unscripted drama featured in the show. She said viewers will also learn from the experiences of the “Bidang Kapamilya” and the celebrities.

“I Dare You is here to inspire and challenge people to face their personal trials, just like what our Kapamilyas are doing no matter how difficult their lives are already,” she said.

Meanwhile, although “I Dare You” is filled with heart-tugging stories, viewers can also expect light and funny moments courtesy of Melai, who will join her close friends Jericho and Iya in guiding celebrity Kapamilya challengers.

“I am the wacky, naughty, and less serious host in the show,” said the former Pinoy Big Brother Big Winner. Like Jericho and Iya, Melai said she appreciates the depth of this project.

“Our hosting here is full of heart and purpose,” she said.

Join Jericho Rosales, Iya Villania, and Melai Cantiveros as they put the focus on Filipinos who do not back down from life’s challenges in “I Dare You,” from Monday to Friday beginning July 11, before “Mula sa Puso” on ABS-CBN

Jericho Rosales Relives his Past in I Dare You

Jericho Rosales takes a break from acting in heavy drama teleseryes and tries his hand in hosting with the new reality series I Dare You. Jericho shared that this new show will allow him to show viewers the human side of himself. “Sa pelikula o teleserye nakikita ng mga tao na nagpo-portray ako ng character. Dito wala kayong ibang makikita kung hindi ako, kung sino talaga ako, kung ano ‘yung laman ng puso ko, ng isip ko, ‘yung mga reactions ko sa mga makikita namin. Makikita niyo ‘yung fighting spirit namin, ‘yung diskarte namin. Totoong tao kami dito.”

I Dare You will feature celebrities temporarily exchanging lives with ordinary Filipinos. This show is a joint project between two production teams within ABS-CBN, the entertainment TV group and the News and Current Affairs. Jericho said, “First time kong makatrabaho ang News and Current Affairs team ng ABS-CBN. Astig ‘yung pagka-raw nung trabaho namin ngayon. Medyo mabilis, punong-puno ng reality. Gusto ko kapag napanood ng mga tao itong I Dare You, ang masasabi lang nila, ‘Astig ‘yung show na ‘yun!’”

For the first episode of I Dare You, Jericho faced the challenge of going back to where he came from before all the showbiz success. The actor relived how it is to sell fish in the wet market. “Sa first episode namin makikita niyo ‘yung dati kong buhay. Hindi ko naman masasabing tinalikuran ko na ‘yun. Dito sa I Dare You, binalikan namin ‘yung hanap buhay ko nung hindi pa ako artista. Makikita niyo kung saan ako nagtinda ng isda sa Marikina. Makikita niyo kung paano ako dumiskarte sa buhay dati at kung ano ang naging kahulugan nun sa buhay ko hanggang ngayon.”

Jericho will be working with co-hosts Iya Villania and Melai Cantiveros on the show. According to Jericho, the three of them were perfectly chosen for this reality show. “I think napili talaga ‘yung tamang timpla ng mga hosts for this show. Ako mahilig sa adventure, sa realidad ng buhay, malapit ako sa mga tao. Si Iya ganun din, adventurous at may puso. At siyempre kailangan din namin ng muse na makulit, at ‘yun si Melai.”
