Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly in internal discussions about a possible purchase of Skype, while Google also has intentions to buy the service, two sources told Reuters.
According to the news agency reports, the discussions are only at an embryonic stage and we don’t know yet whether one of the two companies will be able to take the "Prize" home.
However, this crusade for Skype seems to be a sign of the times. The popular service of calls and video calls had already been purchased in 2005 by eBay for 3.1 billion dollars, although in 2009 the online shopping site has sold 65 percent of Skype for 1.9 billion dollars to the investor group Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Andreessen and Horowitz.
Although the two companies may be fighting for Skype, analysts comment that would make more sense for Facebook to acquire Skype because of the integration that already exists between the two services.
Only the future will tell, though Skype has already announced they were planning
