Kathryn Bernardo Hopes Fans Will Support Her Pairing With Enrique Gil

Fresh from the success of their primetime teleserye Mara Clara, Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes are now headlining a movie. The two young actresses star in the new Star Cinema offering entitled Way Back Home. The film is scheduled for nationwide release on August 17, but as early as now fans of Kathryn and Julia are very much excited to head to the theaters.

But there are also rumors that there are some fans who got very disappointed when it was confirmed Kathryn would be paired with Enrique Gil in the movie rather than her original leading man in Mara Clara, Albie CasiƱo.

Albie was originally part of Way Back Home as Kathryn’s leading man together with the late AJ Perez who was to be paired with Julia. When AJ died, Sam Concepcion was chosen to take over the role. As to why Albie was replaced by Enrique, Star Cinema management explained that they just want to experiment with different combinations for Kathryn and Julia. There was no mention if it had anything to do with controversies hounding Albie at the moment involving now pregnant ex-girlfriend Andi Eigenmann.

During the press conference for Way Back Home, Kathryn admitted that she felt a bit nervous thinking if fans will still support the movie even with a new leading man.

Kathryn lost touch with Albie when Mara Clara wrapped up, until last July 31 when they ran into each other at the Star Magic Games.

For Kathryn, doing Way Back Home could’ve been easier if she had Albie with her.

She further confessed that at first she felt shy towards Enrique, but eventually they easily became good friends and both found it comfortable doing scenes together. So, kapag nagte-take na, okay na kami.

According to director Jerry Sineneng, Kathryn and Enrique were able to forge a palpable onscreen chemistry in Way Back Home. “Sobrang kilig silang dalawa.
