Diether Ocampo Wants to Produce Movie With Star Cinema

Currently seen on Primetime as the determined policeman Marcus Aguilar on Guns and Roses, Diether Ocampo admitted he is just as equally ambitious as his onscreen character. The matinee idol, who is also a businessman and an advocate for various causes, revealed he is also planning to venture into producing a good quality film this year. “Meron kaming nilulutong bagong proyekto. Magmi-meet kami with Star Cinema. Ang ganda nito. Magiging parang malaking pampamilyang proyekto. Nakaka-excite. Yung konsepto nabuo dahil gusto naming bigyan ng magandang image yung mga OFW. Kasi di ba pag sinabi mong OFW parang ang liit ng tingin ng mga tao sa mga Pinoy na nagtratrabaho sa overseas minsan? When in fact, isa sila sa pinakamalaki ang na-i-ko-contribute sa gobyerno natin. Hindi dapat ganun eh. Kasi dignified yung mga trabaho,” he shared.

The actor-musician said the yet-untitled project will have tackle the theme of OFW’s similar to Star Cinema’s 2005 film Dubai. “Lume-level siya sa ganung konsepto. Pero ang maganda dito, maraming iikutan. Basta ayoko i-jinx eh. Malaking project ito,” he said.

Diet also admitted that if ever the project will push through, he will be serving as the producer for the film as well. “Kasi ang tagal ko na sa industriya. And it’s about time na makapag-contribute naman ako kahit papaano sa production side din. Kasi ang dami ko ring nakikilala so it’s about time na mai-share ko din yung natutunan ko. Kumbaga, natataon lang na may mga magagandang storya na gusto mong ibahagi sa mga tao. At saka nakikilala ko din yung mga tao behind-the-scenes, yung mga nasa production. Tapos sino pa bang gagawa nito. Tayo-tayo rin yung magtutulungan,” he explained.

Diet also makes it a point to show his support for independent films as well. The mestizo actor is part of this year’s Cinemalaya film Rakenrol, which was directed by Quark Henares and enjoyed a recent sold-out screening at the CCP.

Currently in Paris, France to do a show with other Kapamilya stars Bea Alonzo, Robin Padilla, Zanjoe Marudo, and Angel Locsin, Diet said he could not have asked to work with a better set of people than his Guns and Roses family. “First time namin halos makatrabaho ang isa’t isa. Pero talagang very tight kami. Parang isang pamilya lang ito eh. Yun ang maganda sa Guns and Roses,” he admitted.

The currently single actor also shared that he is busy focusing on his projects rather than his personal life at the moment. “Ang love life ko? Parang matumal ngayon (laughs). Matumal pero nagba-balanse naman with a good career, maraming mga malalaking proyekto and then we have fundraising events for K.I.D.S Foundation. Magiging beneficiary namin yung Knowledge channel and the Christian Islam Peace library, so para yun sa mga bata sa Mindanao,” he shared.
