The latest addition to the Nokia lineup, the Nokia Astound seems a a technically a rebranded version of the C7-00. It has been announced as an affordable phone which “offers a simplified user experience and on-the-go entertainment” and this is quite true.
The Nokia Astound is fitted with 3.5-inch (360 x 640 pixels) AMOLED capacitive touch screen, protected by ultrathin, damage-resistant glass and surrounded by stainless steel. It is based on Symbian^3.1 OS, measures 4.62 x 2.24 x 0.41 in and weights 4.58 Oz. The handset has integrated compass and accelerometer, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, and comes with Ovi Maps with free car and pedestrian voice-guided, turn-by-turn navigation. It has 8 GB internal memory and if it is not enough for you, it has and MicroSD card slot for more. The phone offers portrait QWERTY keyboard, new revamped browser and split screen functionality, plus the mandatory for any current phone social network applications.
Astound has dedicated graphics processor with OpenGL 2.0 for 3D graphics and comes pre-loaded with Fruit Ninja slashing game, as well access to play and download games and other apps from the Ovi Store.
Tthe Nokia Astound will be available exclusively from T-Mobile USA beginning April 6 for $79.99 with contract after $50 mail-in rebate.
