The "Singapore Flyer", the country's newest observation wheel, opened on Tuesday and is set to rival the London Eye.

The Singapore Flyer stands at around 165 meters tall, and bills itself as the world's largest giant observation wheel. The London Eye is slightly lower, at around 135 meters. The Singapore Flyer boasts of around 28-capsules each capable of carrying 28 people.

Officials say the wheel is completely different from the London Eye which is built on a three-dimensional structure. Passengers can expect pay 22 US dollars for a 30-minute ride on the new wheel.

World Tallest Man in China Zhao Liang

Remember about Suparwono which is claimed as the tallest people in Indonesia which is posted on Crazy World a Months ago?? here's another contender of Suparwono from China. his name is Zhao Liang.

Zhao Liang, 27, entered the Tianjin hospital for an operation to relieve pain from an old muscle tendon injury on his left foot. His height caused a stir among hospital staff who urged him to get measured properly.

They discovered that Mr Zhao is 8.07 ft tall (2.46m), making him 3.9 inches (10cm) taller than Bao Xishun, the current tallest man, who is 7.9ft (2.36m).

Mr Zhao, who lives in Henan province, had been training as a basketball player when he sustained the debilitating foot injury over a decade ago.

He was unemployed until 2006, when an art troupe in Jilin province enrolled him to perform magic tricks and play the saxophone and flute.

Mr Zhao's parents are of a more usual height, with his father measuring 5.9ft (1.8m) and his mother, 5.5 ft (1.68m).

Wang Keyun, Mr Zhao's mother, said he has a big appetite and can easily eat eight hamburger-sized steamed buns and three dishes for dinner.

"But I am so worried about his marriage, job and his health that my hair has turned white," she said.







Liu Yuchen, a surgeon at the hospital, declared the operation a success. He said Mr Zhao will be able to walk normally two months after his surgery but advised against any intense physical exercise.

Dr Liu said he is in good health and has no complications related to his height.

Bao Xishun (known as the Mongolian mast) is currently recognised by the Guinness World Records as the world's tallest man but it's before the appearance of Sultan Kosen which now listed as the Tallest man in the World with 2.47 m (8 ft 1.2 in) height

Mr Zhao's height has not yet been independently verified by the Guinness judges, but doctors at Tianjin Anjie Hospital measured his height as part of a medical checkup under the glare of the media and he is now seeking official recognition.

My resolutions for 2009 were simple - expand my horizons and stop being so cynical. How did I do?

At first glance, I thought I did pretty poorly. Story time:

Last March, I had some Chinese food. At 5 AM the next morning, I ran out of bed and threw up before I reached the bathroom. Food poisoning!

Well, it wasn't quite that simple. After giving it more thought, the culprit was not the Chinese food, but rather whatever I had the night before. Or possibly what I had for breakfast (but not lunch) that day. Or possibly it was actually Norwalk virus and not food poisoning at all.

Regardless of the actual culprit, my mind blamed it on the Chinese food - after all, that was what came back up that night, completely undigested. For a good while, I couldn't look at Chinese food without feeling queasy - forget about trying anything new.

But aside from the culinary misadventures, 2009 was actually fairly good to me on the horizon-expanding front.

Movies? 500 Days of Summer was more or less a romantic comedy with less romance and less comedy, Avatar was far more than a glorified kids' movie, and that's to say nothing of indie rentals like Everything's Gone Green or The Squid And The Whale. I liked all of them.

TV shows? A little less, but I tried out several new options, I'm still watching V and Flash Forward (or I will when they come back), and I'm even occasionally catching reruns of ignored sitcoms like Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond. So that's a check.

And music, of course, has come along nicely. I'm not going to link to any of the dozen or so posts I made in 2009 about music, but I finally broke out of my classic-rock-and-the-New-Pornographers bubble and discovered new bands ranging from Animal Collective to Slow Cub to Norfolk & Western. It's been fun, even if I'm still mostly in a pop-rock vein.

I also mentioned - and then completely forgot about - taking courses in new subjects. Due to degree requirements, that couldn't have happened much anyhow, but 'Conservative Christian Subculture' is a small step outside my comfort zone (only small, because I know the prof).

I also resolved to stop being so cynical, and I think I did a decent job on that front. I've read popular books, watched popular TV shows - Friends as mentioned above - and even a lot of the music I've gotten into is popular amongst indie hipsters.

Even my outlook on life is less cynical, as hopefully evidenced by the political experiment I conducted here in the fall.

Oh, and I *did* get a new job. So for once, I more or less accomplished all my resolutions.

So what's on my plate for 2010? The same things, really. Keep discovering new things. Don't get stuck in my ways or stubborn in my thinking. Explore.

And do something journalism-related. If I don't get a job or internship, do some things online.

We'll see how this plays out.
