Pureza Earns P8.46 Million for First 5 Days

For the opening weekend of July 13 to 17, Box Office Mojo reported that the launching movie of Pinoy Big Brother winner Melai Cantiveros titled “The Adventures of Pureza: Queen of the Riles” has managed to earn P8.46 million on its first 5 days (Wednesday to Sunday) and ranked 4th overall. The film braced the highly-anticipated opening of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2″ which topped Philippine box-office with a haul of P154.1 million in 4 days (Thursday to Sunday).

Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco Hope for a Follow-Up Movie

Reel and real life sweethearts Melisa "Melai" Cantiveros and Jason Francisco said they are hoping to have a new movie soon.

They are also praying for the nonstop support of their fans.

"Sana sa mga susunod pa naming gagawin kagaya nitong pelikulang ito sana ay suportahan niyo po kami at huwag kayong magbago sa amin," Francisco said.

"Sana magtuloy-tuloy ang suporta niyo sa amin para masaya tayo," Cantiveros added.

The couple made the statement after the successful premiere of their first movie together, "The Adventures of Pureza: The Queen of Riles", last Tuesday.

Kapamilya stars like the hosts of "Happy Yipee Yehey" were there to show support to their co-hosts.

What made the premiere special was the presence of Francisco's idol, action star Robin Padilla.

"Si Jason sobrang idol si Robin. So the whole time, sabi ko pupunta kami. Laging sabi niya, 'Si Idol, si Idol pupunta?' Tapos ang pangalan pa ni Jason dito si pelikula is Ruben Padilla," Mariel Rodriguez, one of the hosts of "Happy Yipee Yehey" and wife of Padilla, said.

"Ang galing nila. Dapat nating suportahan ang mga bagong artista para lalong ang pelikulang Pilipino ay dumami pa. Mga kapamilya, panoorin niyo ang pelikulang ito para kayo ay ngumiti," Padilla said.

THE Adventures of Pureza: Queen of the Riles has the looks of a pito-pito movie which is not the trademark of Star Cinema.

From the trailer that was shown, it has the stamp of being wacky, silly and riotous.PBB winner Melai Cantiveros gives the performance of a lifetime as she blindly follow orders from director Soxy Topacio as the Farrell brothers would of Jim Carey. Remember Dumb and Dumber?

For the mis-informed, Soxy Topacio directed Ded Na Si Lolo and it emerged as a surprise hit as an indie offering. And above all, it became the Philippines' entry to the Oscars' best foreign language film category. Don't be surprised if the Melai /Jason starrer emerged as the funniest movie in 2011. It may even beat the mild success of Forever and A Day at the box-office.
