Both tablets run Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) OS with the TouchWiz user interface and Live Panel menu that users can customize to display a variety of content on the home screen including digital pictures, favorite Web sites and social network feeds. They come pre-loaded with Readers Hub, Music Hub, Social Hub which giving access to more than 2.2 million books, 2,000 newspaper (49 languages), 2,300 magazines (22 languages),13 million songs, and will aggregate email, instant messaging, contacts, calendar and social network connections into a single interface.
The 8.9-inch tablet measures 230.9 x 157.8 x 8.6 mm, weights 470 grams and is powered by Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor at 1GHz. It has a display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, offers quadband HSPA+ 21Mbps( 850/900/1900/2100) EDGE/GPRS (850/900/1800/1900), WiFi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0 connectivity and has a rear-facing 3 megapixel camera with LED flash and 720p video recording capability, plus a front 2MP camera for video chats. It is also equipped with a gyroscope, an accelerometer and digital compass, has a stereo speakers, a microSD slot, all backed by a 6000 mAh battery.
The Galaxy Tab 8.9 will be available in the US in early summer in 16GB ($469), 32GB ($569) and 64GB (price N/A) versions.
