Diego Loyzaga Denies Rift With His Father

Newbie actor Diego Loyzaga said there is no rift between him and his father, Cesar Montano.

In an interview during the premiere night of Star Cinema's "Way Back Home," Loyzaga stressed that they only had a misunderstanding which, he said, is normal in a father-son relationship.

"Ganoon naman talaga. I mean, lahat ng tao nagkakaroon ng misunderstandings pero hindi naman po tampuhan. We both love each other," he said.

A report said that the so-called rift started when Montano disapproved of his 16-year-old son's plan to enter showbiz.

It added that Montano did not allow Loyzaga to have his own car and condominium unit since the latter is too young to drive and live on his own.

Loyzaga denied the said report.

"'Yung mag-showbiz ako pumayag naman po siya. At actually, very supportive po siya. Recently, he bought me a car," Loyzaga explained.

"Talagang nagpapasalamat ako kasi hindi na ako nahihirapang bumalik sa set. So Dad, salamat. I love you."

He continued, "Kasi pinalaki ng ibang tao, dinagdagan at ginawang may condo involved. Never akong nanghingi ng condo sa tatay ko at may kotse at may kabastusan pa na nasama. Hindi po 'yon totoo.

"Basta at the end of the day, my dad and I know the truth. Bahala na ang iniisip ng ibang tao. We both love each other, I'm still his son, he's still my dad. There's no fighting, no argument. We are very happy."

Meanwhile, Loyzaga also addressed issues surrounding his relationship with Montano's wife, Sunshine Cruz. The young actor is Montano's son with actress Greta Loyzaga.

"Very close po kami ni Sunshine. Nakakamiss nga sila, sila ang mga kapatid ko. Bihira lang kami magkita kaya nakakamiss sila," he said.

Currently, Loyzaga is gearing for his newest show, "Growing Up," with "Way Back Home" stars Julia Montes and Kathryn Bernardo.
